Domestic and family violence prevention workshop for allies

When

Saturday 22 November from 10am to 4pm

Learn to play an active role in preventing and responding to domestic and family violence in this workshop from the City of Sydney and the Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre.

This face to face training is by application only. It’s for residents or people volunteering, studying and working in the City of Sydney local area.

You’ll gain an understanding of gender-based violence, often referred to as domestic and family violence, and how it can be prevented. You'll also learn how to have safe and supportive conversations, and where to get help for people impacted by domestic and family violence. 

The session will cover:

Gender-based violence and prevention (theory)

  • The social contexts that allow violence and abuse to occur

  • The impacts of gender-based violence

  • Healthy relationships and red flags

  • Primary prevention

Making our communities safer (practical)

  • How to be an active bystander or ally

  • Primary prevention in action in community settings

  • Scenarios 

  • Self-care.
