Friday 5 December from 5:30pm to 7:30pm
Big hART and Women and Girls Emergency Centre (WAGEC) invite you to It Starts With Us - a special documentary screening and panel discussion exploring family violence prevention, held during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
This acclaimed 30-minute documentary, filmed in Frankston North Victoria, follows a group of teenagers as they take part in a transformative arts-based prevention program. Guided by mentors including Rosie Batty, the young people use creativity to challenge the social pressures that fuel gender-based violence, showing the powerful impact of prevention ‘in action’.
Following the screening, young people from Frankston will join NSW Women’s Safety Commissioner Hannah Tonkin and other leaders in the family violence sector/prevention space in a 30-minute panel discussion. Together, they will explore what prevention looks like, when it works, and how children and young people can contribute to shaping lasting change.
