Every day, 12am to 11:59pm Tuesday 25 November to Wednesday 10 December
Around the world, women and girls are facing violence in their homes, workplace, communities, and increasingly online. That's why UN Women Australia is calling on Australians to take a stand against gender-based violence with the Safe. Everywhere. Always. Challenge.
From 25th November to 10th December, during the 16 Days of Activism, UN Women is challenging you to walk, swim, run, ride or roll a distance of your choosing. Every kilometer covered will help raise vital funds to prevent violence, support survivors and create lasting change.
Who can take the Challenge: Anyone! Individuals, workplaces, community groups and sporting clubs are all encouraged to sign up for free to take part in the Challenge.
Where do the funds go: All funds raised through the Challenge are donated to UN Women Australia, which supports our advocacy events both here in Australia, and globally through the UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women (UNTF). The UNTF is the only global grant-making mechanism exclusively dedicated to preventing and ending violence against women and girls, funding initiatives in over 100 countries worldwide.
This is a national crisis. In 2024, a woman was violently killed every four days. Already in 2025, 32 women have lost their lives due to devastating acts of violence.
Behind every statistic is a real person – a woman or girl whose safety, wellbeing, and freedom to participate fully in society are being threatened.
From home to work – and everywhere in between – safety is a right, not a privilege.
Help us create a world where women are Safe. Everywhere. Always.
Register for the challenge today.
