Teens Workshop: Clay Maquetes with Cristelle Cabrera

When

Wednesday 1 July from 9:30am to 4:15pm

Discover the incredible world of ancient Inca civilization mythology through clay! In this hands-on ceramic workshop, kids will create their own small clay maquettes inspired by powerful Incan gods, legends, and sacred symbols. Using fun hand-building techniques such as pinching, coiling, and sculpting, young artists will learn how to shape expressive miniature figures full of personality and imagination. Children can follow guided inspiration based on Incan deities connected to the sun, moon, nature, and animals, or invent their own mythical character inspired by ancient South American art. Along the way, they’ll experiment with texture, carving, and decorative surface techniques to give their sculptures a unique ancient look. Perfect for all skill levels, this creative class encourages storytelling, artistic exploration, and hands-on learning in a supportive studio environment. Kids will build confidence, develop sculpting skills, and take home a one-of-a-kind clay artwork inspired by one of the world’s most fascinating ancient cultures.

Students will have a morning or afternoon tea break, and a lunch break if they are booked in for a full day. Breaks are supervised and usually held outside in our beautiful garden (weather permitting).

If your teen is coming and going independently, please complete the waiver giving permission for them to leave at the end of the class.

In order to reduce the amount of unclaimed works from the school holidays and be more sustainable in our art making, an additional cost of $8 is payable if you wish to have your child's work glazed and fired.

All pottery must be collected within 4 weeks after completion. We are unable to store items beyond this time frame due to limited space, to make room for new work and maintain a safe and organised environment in the school. WWAS takes no responsibility for loss or breakage. Works remaining at the conclusion of the 4 weeks may be repurposed, sold for fundraising purposes or disposed of.
