Roger Rogerson was the golden boy of the NSW Police and tipped for high rank - maybe even Commissioner. The media loved him. His peers admired him.
He and his wife and two children lived a peaceful life in Sydney;s south west suburb. He was the perfect neighbour always around to help and engaging man with the touch of a successful retail politician. But behind the facade, Roger was corrupt and brutal. His friendship/business partnership with the drug dealing homicidal armed robber Neddy Smith rocked the nation when exposed in court and later in the ABC series Blue Murder. Forty years ago this year, Roger was sacked - not for his crimes but for a TV interview with Ray Martin. Welcome to policing 80s style.
In his next career - punctuated by time behind bars - he was the consigliere to organised crime and an habitué of Kings Cross. This career ended in May 2014 with the murder of wanna be gangster Jamie Gao. Roger Rogerson was a serial killer with a badge, a man driven by greed and power. He’s Australia’s most notorious detective. Join Brandy and Duncan to explore the life of Roger Rogerson - a story Duncan knows well after meeting Rogerson, two books and documentary.
Join Brandon and Duncan as they delve in the crimes and minds of the truly evil couple. Event Details: Sunday 26th July
