And This Is Where We Land

And This Is Where We Land is a small sculptural work located in The Library Plinth.

The work reflects on the landscapes we create through our collective decisions, priorities, values. Constructed from repurposed jewellery saw blades, the work presents a slightly dystopian cityscape displayed on a silver platter engraved with the names of Australian plants that have become endangered or extinct since colonisation.

While the work acknowledges environmental and cultural loss, it is ultimately a hopeful invitation to reflect on what we choose to value, protect and rebuild. The sculpture is informed by Bridget Kennedy's dual perspectives as a contemporary craft practitioner and local councillor, drawing connections between community, stewardship and the places we share.

Alongside the sculpture, visitors are invited to participate in informal hands-on workshops focused on repairing and rebuilding tree forms. Together, the artwork and workshops explore how acts of making, care and collective action can help shape more thoughtful and resilient futures.
