Sunday 12 July from 3:30pm to 5:30pm
We’re living through a climate emergency that feels both huge and deeply personal. How do we document what we’re losing and what we’re fighting to keep, without spiraling into despair?
Zines as Archives of Resistance is a two-hour workshop for the curious, the politically engaged, and the creatively restless. We’re moving away from digital noise and back to the radical history of zines: low-fi, high-impact, DIY distribution.
What the session will look like…
A quick dive into zine history. Learn why a piece of folded paper is still one of the most powerful tools for community resistance!!!
We’ll use local ecological studies and conservation data as our prompts. You’ll craft a "day in the life" or an "origin story" for a local species.
Now flip it over!! We’re turning the back of your zine into a bold, high-contrast protest poster. Think big slogans and messy pages!!!
We’ll close with a 20-minute sharing session. A space to talk through your love letters to the environment.
What you’ll walk away with…
Your own original Poster Zine: A hand-crafted booklet that unfolds into a full-scale A3 conservation poster.
The technical skills to fold, layout, and self-publish your own future editions.
A deeper connection to local species and a community of like-minded people!!!
What to bring...
Just yourself and your curiosity to create!! All materials and prompts provided.
