The Wine Bar at The International is excited to host a rare and intimate Winter Vino Supper "Banchetto Invernale", celebrating the wines of G.D. Vajra through one of the family's most trusted ambassadors and voices, Eugene Qiao, assistant winemaker for the past 10 years.

With experience of walking the vineyards, tasting at the source, and sharing Vajra’s philosophy around the world, Eugene brings a rare blend of insight, authenticity, and heart. Her connection to the family goes beyond wine – it's rooted in shared values of care, curiosity, and joy.

This is not just a dinner – its an insider glimpse into one of Barolo’s most respected, soulful producers. Founded in 1971 in the heart of Barolo by Aldo Vaira, G.D. Vajra were pioneers of organic farming in Piedmont, and to this day every vine is tended with hands-on care and a deep respect for biodiversity. Now run by the second generation of the family, with Giuseppe, Isidoro, and Francesca at the helm, Vajra continues to marry tradition with a quiet innovation, crafting wines that are luminous, expressive, and profoundly personal.

Their motto, “Un abbraccio grande” – a big hug – is a philosophy you’ll feel in every glass.

Eugene will personally guide you through a handpicked selection of Vajra’s finest wines, thoughtfully paired with a Piedmontese-inspired 3-course supper. This unique event will be a warm embrace from the Heart of Barolo, right here in Sydney.
