When

Wednesday 9 September from 6pm to 7pm

Cost

Adult: $30Library Friends: $20

Join us for the Library Book Club 2026 — celebrating great Australian writing, lively conversation and the joy of reading together.

Hosted in our new Library Shop, for this year’s Library Book Club we have selected some of Australia’s most engaging literary works for six evenings of thoughtful, spirited discussion.

This month, join co-hosts of The Secret Life of Books podcast Jonty Claypole and Sophie Gee in a group discussion of The Transit of Venus by Shirley Hazzard, an intricately plotted Greek tragedy, a sweeping family sage, and a desperate love story.

As a Book Club attendee, present your ticket at the Library Shop to receive a 20% discount on each featured book.

Prior to each session, you’ll receive guided reading notes to enrich the conversation and spark ideas for discussion.

Light refreshments available for purchase from The Library Café from 5 pm. Book club discussions will commence at 6 pm inside The Library Shop.

Want even more value? Library Friends receive discounts on our events. Find out how to join here or call (02) 9273 1593 before purchasing your ticket.
