Sunday 25 May from 2:30pm to 4pm
Doors open 30 minutes prior to concert
The Bourbaki Ensemble returns to the stage this coming Sunday 25 May at 2:30pm with a richly expressive and emotionally charged program – with a special guest soloist!
We’re thrilled to include Bartók’s fiery Romanian Folk Dances, guaranteed to lift the roof with their folk vitality.
Even more exciting: we’re joined by saxophonist Felix Coster for Glazunov’s lush and lyrical Saxophone Concerto – a rarely-heard gem and a true highlight of this performance.
Program:
Eugène Ysaÿe – Exil!, poème symphonique for high strings
Aleksandr Glazunov – Saxophone Concerto (soloist: Felix Coster)
Iain Grandage – The Wild Geese
Dmitri Shostakovich – Chamber Symphony, Op. 110a
Bartók – Romanian Folk Dances
This will be a concert of striking contrasts: from the delicacy of The Wild Geese to the defiance of Shostakovich, the melancholic Exil! to the dazzling virtuosity of the saxophone concerto.
