In this workshop, you'll reimagine and redesign an iconic Sydney building - think the Opera House or Sydney Tower - with your own creative twist. Add new features, change its function, or redesign it entirely.
You’ll be guided to create your own unique 3D building design using Tinkercad and Onshape in our fully equipped makerspace. Onshape and Tinkecad are free, open-source CAD (computer aided design) applications that are accessible for complete beginners. Our experienced facilitators will be on hand to show you the ropes, discuss your ideas and help you realise your vision.
This fun maker session is specifically designed for teens to explore the makerspace, get hands-on with CAD tools, and be introduced to 3D printing in a workshop environment. Your designs will be 3D printed during the workshop so you can see our 3D printers in action!
The Model Makers exhibition explores the story behind the City of Sydney’s large-scale architectural model—housed on Level 2 of Town Hall House—and the skilled team who maintain and update it. More than just a planning tool, the city model offers a unique interpretation of Sydney’s past, present, and future. You can view The Model Makers exhibition at Customs House until 1 May 2026.
