Robotics Design Studio: Crafting Large Machines (ages 13-18)

When

Tuesday 7 July from 10am to 1pm

Design and build large moving creations in this Robotics Design Studio workshop.

Using VEX IQ robotics, participants will experiment with gears, linkages and cardboard to construct and code machines that create large movements and respond to motion. There will be time to test designs, refine mechanisms and develop creative solutions.

Past participants have created projects including a button operated ferris wheel, whales that wave when tilted, a giant axe and automatic doors that open as people approach.

All experience levels are welcome. Bookings are essential as places are limited.

About the facilitator:

Science Educator Parker McLean has developed, hosted and managed more than twenty creative robotics programs in Canada and Australia, including Robotics Club, Make a Tech Pet and Robotics Design Studio. His programs are learner driven, place based and inquiry based, blending art and design with engineering and modern technology to support young designers in creating interactive experiences. He has worked with VEX IQ, micro:bits, LEGO Mindstorms, Ozobots, Dash Robots, Spheros, BeeBots, Makey Makey and a wide range of materials.
