Bring your special ceramic, glass and textile objects and Fourth Weed Studio will help you give them a second life, appreciating their imperfect beauty!
KINTSUGI and SASHIKO are Japanese practices of mending ceramics and textiles respectively. They emphasize respecting resources, minimising waste and honouring an artifact's history, celebrating its fractures and tears. It is repair as an act of material intelligence. For textiles repairs sashiko stitching will be used as well as traditional darning methods. The kintsugi process for ceramics is a modern one using synthetic materials and beautiful repairs can be achieved in just a few hours.
Open Studio, Repair Sunday 19 October, 1pm - 5pm, drop-ins welcome but bookings preferred.
