Production Design: Scene Architects Build On-Screen Worlds is an exhibition spotlighting the artistry of production design in contemporary Korean cinema.
Featuring the works of three renowned production designers—Ryu Seong-hee, Han Ah-reum, and Cho Hwa-sung—the exhibition unveils the creative processes behind five critically acclaimed films, including The Handmaiden (2016), Decision to Leave (2022), Kingmaker (2022), Kill Boksoon (2023), and Hansan: Rising Dragon (2022). Visitors will gain insight into the world-building techniques that bring screen stories to life through storyboards, concept art, set plans, and graphic design, along with immersive 3D visuals and multi-channel video installations. This exhibition celebrates the pivotal role of production designers as visual architects who shape cinematic universes beyond the frame.
Presented in partnership with the Korean Film Archive, this exhibition was supported by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE) as part of "Touring K-Arts" project.
Exhibition Thursday 14 August – Friday 31 October, Monday – Friday, 10am – 6pm, free.
