Saturday 13 June from 2pm to 5pm Saturday 27 June from 2pm to 5pm
EOI closes on 31 May. Selected groups will be notified on 1 June.
About the project
Queer Friendships brings friends together for short portrait sessions that centre connection, care and shared presence.
Through participatory photography, the project explores how relationships shape queer communities and how they are lived day to day. It focuses on friends photographed together, capturing gestures of closeness, humour, care and shared presence.
For many queer people, these relationships can be central to everyday life. They can be spaces of belonging, support and connection, taking many forms and shifting over time.
Presented as part of Pride Fest at Qtopia Sydney.
How it works
Step 1: Submit an EOI
Fill out the expression of interest form. You can apply with one friend or a small group of chosen family. Only one person needs to submit the EOI for the group.
Step 2: Attend the session
Selected groups will be invited to take part in a relaxed 20-minute studio portrait session at Qtopia Sydney Workshop Hub. No experience is needed and you’ll be guided through the process.
Step 3: Receive your image
A few weeks after the photoshoot, you’ll receive one edited digital image for personal use, free of charge. Your portrait will also be included in the digital Queer Friendships gallery.
