Saturdays, all day Saturday 19 October to Saturday 14 December
Let award winning portraitist and contemporary artist Mathew Lynn be your personal guide in this open studio session - in any medium you choose.
This could be an opportunity for you to improve specific technical skills, or to critically assess and completely transform your practice! Mathew can help you to better understand what you’re trying to achieve, and to help you look with a fresh perspective by exploring new strategies and processes in your work. You may be forming a body of work, or be working towards an exhibition and need some help resolving individual works and conceptual themes, perhaps you are working towards a prize entry, you may have that problem painting that refuses to be resolved! This is an opportunity to bring anything to the session where you will be supported and challenged.
There is no limit to subject matter, which could include elements of still life, portraiture, landscape and seascape, figuration, and onwards to abstraction, and you can work in traditional or contemporary forms. There is also no limitation on medium, you may choose to focus on drawing, painting, mixed media, or even collage forms. Mathew can provide technical rigour and processes across any medium, but this will also be a session for ideas, how to access them within ourselves, and how to translate them into art.
Mathew likes to work one-on-one fairly quickly within the session, setting specific individual exercises and goals where necessary, tuning into and encouraging your personal vision and the way you see the world.
This session is open to all levels of experience.
