Saturday 9 August from 10:30am to 1:30pm
Prepare for launch during National Science Week!
In this hands‑on workshop you’ll learn how to sculpt and customise a tiny planet in Blender using Geometry Nodes and simple mesh‑editing tools.
Starting with a basic sphere, you’ll:
Shape continents, oceans and swirling cloud layers
Add procedural grass, trees and mini‑buildings to create an entire ecosystem
Experiment with height‑maps and terrain editing to carve craters, mountains, canyons or wild alien landforms
Tweak colours and materials so your world looks ready for exploration
Once your miniature planet is complete, we’ll show you how to export the model for 3D printing on our Bambu X1 printers. Everyone leaves with a printable file – and the know‑how to keep creating at home.
This fun National Science Week session is designed for teens (12–16 yrs) who want to:
Explore Blender’s creative tools – no prior 3D experience needed
Discover how procedural geometry works in modern game / film pipelines
Get a taste of desktop fabrication in our fully equipped makerspace
All computers, software and printing materials are provided. Just bring your imagination, comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes.
What you’ll take home:
A 3D printed design, limited to a print time of 3 hours
Your 3D prints will be produced after the workshop finishes. We’ll email you when they’re ready to collect. You can pick them up within 14 days of your workshop date from the Level 1 Customer Service Desk.
