Have you always wanted to learn Greek but weren’t sure where to begin? This 10-week beginner-friendly Modern Greek course offers a supportive and engaging introduction to Modern Greek — no prior experience required.

From your very first class, you’ll begin using Greek in simple, practical ways. You’ll learn the Greek alphabet, pronunciation, and essential grammar, helping you build confidence step by step while developing your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.

Whether you’re reconnecting with your heritage, planning a trip to Greece, or simply drawn to the language and culture, this course will give you a strong and rewarding foundation. With guidance from an experienced tutor and a welcoming learning environment, you’ll gain confidence while exploring Greek culture, history and everyday life.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this Modern Greek: Beginners Level 1 course, participants will have developed practical skills and knowledge in areas such as:

  • Recognising and using the sounds and letters of the Modern Greek alphabet

  • Greeting people and introducing yourself using simple phrases

  • Asking and answering basic questions

  • Using basic grammar and simple sentence structures

  • Participating in simple everyday interactions

  • Developing an introductory understanding of Greek culture and customs

  • Building language skills for travel, community and everyday communication
