Wednesday 22 April from 1:15pm to 2pm
Enjoy a Wednesday Lunchtime Concert at St James’ King Street with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music University String Quartets, presented as part of the much‑loved midday concert series. This program features two contrasting landmarks of the string quartet repertoire, performed by outstanding Sydney Conservatorium musicians.
The Sylva Quartet performs Ravel’s String Quartet in F major, a luminous and finely textured work rich in colour, atmosphere, and rhythmic vitality. The Florestan Quartet follows with Haydn’s String Quartet in D major, Op. 76 No. 5, a radiant example of Haydn’s late style, brimming with elegance, warmth, and inventive dialogue. Set in the historic setting of St James’, this lunchtime concert offers an inspiring musical pause in the heart of the city.
