Sunday 24 May from 10am to 11:30am
This experimental dance festival invites dancers across Australia and the Asia-Pacific to discover the unique colour of their movement.
Ki 氣 involves a dance battle, jam session, masterclass series and a talk with experimental dance leaders across the Asia-Pacific.
Please note the dance battle and jam session will take place on Saturday 23 May 2026 at a different venue.
What is the colour of your movement?
We invite you to a discussion with five experimental dance leaders across Australia, Samoa and South Korea to chat about their personal journeys in discovering the unique colour of their movement.
From the flood plains of Ipswich to a uni dance studio in Jeonju, we will discuss what it takes to create a local dance movement and build a community such as Flood dance. We will unravel the threads between ancestral wisdom from Samoa and Japan, lived diasporic experiences and hybrid expressions of street dance.
In dialogue with each other, these panellists will highlight what is truly needed to find your unique style – rigorous dedication, methodical study, and the courage to imagine more for your dance.
Supported by Australia-Korea Foundation, Creative Australia and generous donors.
