Tuesday 14 October from 6pm to 9pm
Drawn to return time and again to the southern polar regions by the heady mix of magnificent landscapes and abundant wildlife, Richard will share images, stories and photography insights from his travels to the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia, the South Shetland and Falkland Islands that have resulted in Way Down South, an epic volume of landscape and wildlife photography.
Richard’s beautifully crafted imagery will take you on a remarkable visual journey to some of the southern polar region’s most remote, spectacular, fragile, dynamic and significant locations.
About the book:
Ten years in the making, Way Down South features 213 colour photographs showcasing the dramatic landscapes and abundant wildlife of the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia, the South Shetland and Falkland Islands in an epic volume of landscape and wildlife photography that takes the viewer on a remarkable visual journey to some of the southern polar region’s most remote, beautiful, fragile, dynamic, and significant locations. And, yes! There’s lots of penguins too. And all the images were taken on Aurora voyages.
The images are complemented by evocative and thoughtful texts from Greg Mortimer OAM and Howard Whelan, two of the world’s most experienced polar adventurers and expedition leaders.
It is a big book at 370 x 290 mm with 368 pages, hardcover with dust jacket and weighing in at 3.82 kgs. High production values, including stochastic printing to best represent the quality of the photographs, and lay flat binding for seamless two-page spreads, make the book a premium addition to any coffee table or collection.
Way Down South is for anyone who has been to Antarctica, would love to go to Antarctica, for someone you'd like to encourage to go to Antarctica or who loves photography, travel or beautiful books. And, of course, it would make a perfect Christmas present or two.
