Thursday 11 September from 1pm to 2:30pm
Celebrate History Week 2025 with a hands-on walk and art tour through Hyde Park.
Create your own a site-specific relief print artist book as you explore the park, capturing textures, stories, and impressions from the journey.
In line with this year’s theme, Water Stories, the tour will visit some locations featured in Walk on water: A guide to Sydney’s water features— part of the City of Sydney’s self-guided historical walking tour series. At each stop, you’ll uncover the narratives behind the fountains and sculptures in the park, where art and storytelling meet.
Guided by professional artists from Pine Street Creative Arts Centre and one of the City’s historians, you’ll use kneadable putty to collect imprints from natural and built surfaces. These impressions will be transformed into block prints, forming the pages of your evolving artist book as the walk progresses.
Don’t miss this unique blend of history, creativity, and storytelling in the heart of Sydney.
