Group Show – Surfaced

Exhibiting artists: Debra Achurch, Jodie Boffa, Juls Fraser, Joanne Hook, Libby Moore, Sandra van Tilburg, Robyn Williams.

Most of the artists in Surfaced graduated from the National Art School in 2024 and all have backgrounds and education in a variety of creative fields. This exhibition is an opportunity to move beyond art school and studio spaces and take works to a wider audience. Surfaced includes paintings, prints and drawings and subject matter ranges from still life to landscape, abstract and figurative work.

Surface treatment varies from thick impasto paint on canvas to flat areas of colour on paper, canvas and plywood. Expressive charcoal, pastel and ink drawings explore the textures and shapes of nature and paintings of vessels in conversation record shadows and reflections. The geometric and abstract works included investigate opacity, transparency and layering. Through these diverse approaches Surfaced offers an opportunity to experience and reflect on work in a variety of mediums and styles. Each artist has their own unique visual language but all are connected by a desire to extend their art practices.
