Oh so boring, and so necessary. All creative practitioners and arts professionals should be able to understand the basics of superannuation and insurance.

Insurance is a necessary for every creative project, arts organisation and small business. Superannuation is a tricky topic with ever-changing rules and special caveats for the creative industries.  Creative’s Guide to Super and Insurance is a comprehensive and surprisingly fun workshop that covers both dreary subjects in detail. It’s been written by creatives and specifically designed for those that need details for their professional practice.

The first hour details what insurance is, understanding your duty of care as a creative professional, the different kinds available, and where to go for more help. The second hour examines how superannuation works for creatives and the rules for paying, and being paid, your super.

With a specific focus on the arts and creative industries, this workshop will cover:

  • Understanding Liability, Duty of Care and the consequences of a breach of responsibility.

  • How to conduct a comprehensive Risk Assessment for projects and organisations.

  • The Details (and Pros vs Cons) of the main insurance considerations – Public Liability, Professional Indemnity, Equipment, Volunteer, Income Protection and Worker’s Comp.

  • The basics of how superannuation works for everyone in Australia.

  • The ‘Superannuation Guarantee for Contractors’ and the caveats for creatives.

  • How to access outstanding superannuation from freelance clients, and pay other people.

Participants can also ask questions and get access to more resources and support.

What do I get? All participants of this workshop also receive:

  • Lifetime access to a Dropbox folder jam-packed with additional resources and helpful links.

  • A One-Page Marketing Plan template to assist with the practical elements of the workshop.

  • Access to additional free webinars to supplement the material covered in the workshop.

  • The possibility of further one-to-one business advice, mentoring and support from one of our creative industries business specialist advisors. We have a whole team ready to help!
