The works in this exhibition – Impenetrable Daydream – emerged during a time of profound personal upheaval – when the grief of losing parents and friends collided with the physical and emotional turbulence brought on by shifting health and hormones. During this period of unexpected chaos, I was forced to confront both loss and transformation head-on.
These works are a meditation on resilience and interconnectedness. They reflect not only on the internal challenges of navigating grief and change, but also the vital role of community – how reaching out to support others can offer a sense of grounding and belonging and how friends, family, and neighbours subsequently step in when it matters most.
Constructed from densely layered, high-resolution macro photographs, Impenetrable Daydream mirrors the densely textured emotional terrain of this current life chapter. I invite my audience into a richly seamed visual labyrinth – one that aims to echo the complexity, fragility, and quiet strength I’ve endeavoured to find in the act of carrying on life during a period of adversity.
Celebratory drinks: 5–7pm Saturday 25 October
Impenetrable Daydream is running concurrently with SZX-MFM-HKG, an exhibition of photography by Carol Muller.
