Thursday 9 April from 5pm to 6:30pm

On 6 April 1976 David Goodman visited China for the first time. An avid photographer as well as researcher on social and political change at the local level, he has observed and recorded that country’s development at first hand for most of the last fifty years.

He studied in Beijing, and lived and taught in Taiyuan, Nanjing, Lanzhou and Suzhou. Join him for an illustrated review of his experiences in research, in society, and in Chinese universities, during the last five decades.

Professor Anthony Saich from Harvard Kennedy School will moderate the event.

The event will be followed by light refreshments provided by the China Studies Centre
