Gallery LNL is delighted to present ‘Memento (still life)’, a solo exhibition of new and recent works by Evan Salmon, on view from 27 March through 25 April. This exhibition marks Salmon’s return to still life after his predominant engagement with en plein air painting since 2010.

"Whether it is an industrial landscape, a group of still life objects or the human figure, I am equally engaged with the possibilities and challenges of interpreting these forms through the act of careful observation."

In the deliberateness of Salmon’s staging throughout, punctuated in this brushing of shoulders between household and art object, any symbolism evoked withdraws just as soon as it arrives. The true occasion for these gatherings is suggested rather in the classical inflection evident throughout his informed study of proportion and spatial relation. In the chance for experimentation with light’s movement over these surfaces, reflective and dulled alike.
