We offer free learning opportunites with a platform to showcase material created during course at Local community events.
We are searching for beginner drummers wanting to learn basic drum techniques. You will learn songs to play within a community band.
PLEASE NOTE: You must be registered to participate in the drumming lesson. Lessons are 30min classes.
What you will learn:
Week 1: Grip -one of the first things you will learn during drum lessons is how to hold your drumsticks. A proper grip technique is essential to any drummer.
You will learn both drum anatomy and how to play the drums.
Week 2: Understand your own ability and comfort zone on how to approach the drums and play them.
Learning set ups of drums ,placements of cymbals and stands and your seating posture.
Week 3: Learning the importance of Dynamics learning versus chorus breakdowns Within A song structure.
Understanding an environment and room size you are playing in ,it is important .
Week 4: Playing beats
Now, to playing actual beats. learning form preparation. Count aloud "1-2-3-4 1-2-3-4 1-2-3-4 1-2-3-4". Keep playing and on beats "1" and "3", play the bass drum. On the other 2 beats, AKA 3 and 4, play the snare.
This is what you will be learning and understanding. This is the basic beat for most pop songs.
Week 5: Fills
Fills are chunks of time used to spice up music so that it doesn't get to boring. They are sometimes fast, and used on many different drums . Understanding how to get from the groove into a fill back into the groove of the song without losing time .
This part in time you will be playing along with tunes and learning how to play songs . You will be sitting behind the kit with the understanding of the Drums the dynamics placement and voicing of music.
