Sandhya Parappukkaran will read from her picture book Words that Taste Like Home.
She’ll explore the concept of and how learning languages can connect us to culture and loved ones. Sandhya will guide you to create an artwork that celebrates what ‘home’ means to you.
What you will need: Students need A4 white paper or the printed activity sheet (download from the Library’s event page) and colouring pencils or crayons.
Target audience: Suitable for Kindergarten – Year 2 students (children aged 5-8), but everyone is welcome.

Sandhya Parappukkaran is an award-winning picture book author, a library assistant and an avid reader. She writes stories inspired by her childhood experiences and steeped in the theme of ‘embracing your cultural identity’. All her picture books, including her latest book Words That Taste Like Home, have been recognised on the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Notable Book list.
