Interestingly enough, E,dward Lear, who penned the classic poem The Owl and The Pussy-Cat, was so devoted to his feline friend Foss that when he had a second house built it matched the exact same layout as his old house, so that Foss could easily find his way to his special snoozing spots.
You might be surprised to learn L.M. Montgomery wrote Anne of Green Gables with her adored kitty Daffy on her lap.

A renowned literary historian and Fellow of the Royal Society of NSW, Susannah Fullerton is involved with many literary societies, including the Jane Austen Society of Australia of which she has been President for 30 years. In 2017 she received an Order of Australia Medal of the Order for services to literature.
