Look up at our street banners and you might see the Sydney Lunar Festival banner galleries celebrating the Year of the Snake.
YEAHYEAHCHLOE’s artwork, ‘A Feast Fit For A Snake’, embodies the vibrant celebration of the Lunar New Year within contemporary Australia.
The artwork centres around the cunning wisdom of the snake, whose strategic prowess secured itself 6th place in the Great Race. In the artwork, the snake reprises its clever strategy, disguising itself amidst the Lunar New Year feast. Whether coiled within the dumplings or concealed within the yi mein (long life noodles), these crafty serpents have positioned themselves perfectly to partake in this year’s delicacies.
‘A Feast Fit For A Snake’ captures the communal spirit that food evokes during Lunar New Year celebrations. It’s a playful homage to the joy of sharing and connecting over cultural dishes, inviting viewers to revel in the festive harmony that food inspires during this period.
