Youth Makers offers unique access to the Darling Square Library Makerspace for young people aged 12–17 years during National Youth Week.
Explore the Darling Square Library Makerspace and try out a range of making activities in this fun, hands-on workshop for teens.
You will engage with a range of making stations and guided activities to help you explore different technologies, including creative coding, 3D printing, robotics and virtual reality.
Our friendly and experienced facilitators will be on hand to guide you as you explore the tools and technologies in the space. Participants are encouraged to chat with facilitators about their own STEM interests or project ideas and get advice on how to develop them.
New to making? Don’t worry - this is a great chance to try something new, build practical skills and connect with other curious young makers.
What you’ll have access to:
Devices: high-powered laptops and iPads
Fabrication tools and resources including 3D printers and laser cutter
Robotics kits: LittleBits & Spheros
Virtual reality fun with Metaquest 3 & Gravity Sketch
What you’ll learn:
Core digital fabrication skills: 3D design, 3D printing
How to use open-source software for simple design projects
A range of maker activities including electronics, physical computing and hands-on creativity
How to use Makerspace tools and equipment with support from experienced facilitators

Cost: $10, bookings essential
Suitable for: Young people aged 12–17 years
Experience level: all levels, no prior making experience required
Class size: limited to 12 participants
Please note: We think carefully about the suggested age range for our activities and this workshop is only appropriate for young people aged 12–17 years.
3D prints:
Your 3D prints will be produced after the workshop finishes. You will be notified via email when your prints are ready, within 14 days of your workshop date.

Darling Square Library and lift access closes to the public at 6pm. Late arriving students will not be admitted after 6pm. No refunds or transfers will be issued for late arrivals.
Bookings can be cancelled up to 7 days before the date of the workshop. Cancellations made within 7 days of the course starting will not be refunded. See terms and conditions.
