Yaya Bey

When

Saturday 4 January from 7pm to 9pm

Cost

Starting from: $59

After a run of critically lauded releases, R&B shapeshifter Yaya Bey will make her hotly anticipated Australian debut. The New York-raised vocalist muscled into the public consciousness with early releases The Many Alter-Egos of Trill’etta Brown and This Too, before cementing her smooth neo-soul meets funk sound on 2020’s Madison Tapes

A sly and versatile vocalist, Bey’s lyrical themes are entirely her own, weaving political commentary, humour, grief and sex into indelible songs.

Signed by pioneering UK label Big Dada in 2021, Bey released her breakout album Remember Your North Star the next year. She followed up with Ten Fold – ranked among “The Best Music of 2024 So Far” by Pitchfork – an album exploring the death of her father with stunning and generous intimacy.

Onstage, Bey is a force of nature – as testified by her recent NPR Tiny Desk concert, which charts a tapestry of emotions in just 16 minutes. Don’t miss this chance to catch a true original in her element.
