Every day, 9am to 3:30pm Tuesday 13 January 2026 to Thursday 15 January 2026
Three day program
For budding ecologists and urbanists, the program explores the natural and built environment around the Marrickville warehouse. We will be taking short walks around the neighborhood to observe its features and how they shape the experience of community members.
We will take walks through the park to see how it functions as a habitat for flora and fauna, as well as a part of our daily lives. During these walks, students will take notes about the things they feel and notice, and eventually select a "specimen" that they want to include in the field guide.
Once they have selected a "specimen, " students will write a guide entry, produce a short creative piece of writing, and make an illustration. The week will also include a paper-making project, which students will use as the jacket for their own field journal. Finally, at the end of the week, students will learn how to bind the pages of the book together.
This workshop will run for three days - January 13th, January 14th, and January 15th. Student drop-off will be between 9:00 and 9:15, and pick-up at 3:30. Students are expected to bring their own lunch, snacks, and a water bottle.
