Saturday 5 September from 12pm to 4pm
Explore expressive portraiture through watercolour in this 4 hour workshop, creating a self-portrait that captures an honest moment in time through observation and intuition.
We welcome three-time Archibald finalist Dee Smart to Waverley Woollahra Art School for this workshop. Exact likeness is not the objective, but to find the true depth of what is being communicated via the mirror to the board.
Dee will share and demonstrate the techniques used for her Archibald self-portrait, including measuring the features in light pencil, methods and use of palettes to put emotion and intuition to use and achieve a powerful moving contemporary portrait.
All levels are welcome, including students who have already attended Dee's workshop previously. These students will have the opportunity to further explore portraiture.
You are welcome to bring an image you wish to paint from. If you would like this printed prior to the workshop, please email it through to info@wwas.org.au.
Basic materials are supplied for this workshop.
