Phoenix Central Park is proud to present COSMOSIS, VP’s debut album performed live for the first time. Drawing on a decade of field recordings and bioacoustic research, VP composes an expansive soundscape that moves between the earthly and the otherworldly—“an invitation to hear the world differently.”
Join VP for the launch of her debut album COSMOSIS, an immersive journey through imagined sound-worlds and speculative ecologies. COSMOSIS unfolds like a living sonic map of biomes and beyond, blending field recordings of forests, deserts, oceans, and more with ethereal electronic textures. Each track, from the subterranean hum of underground to the expansive speculative skies sky to atmos, invites listeners to explore the intricate pulse of ecologies on other planets. The launch promises a deep listening experience where natural and synthetic worlds converge with the experimental and acoustic. COSMOSIS is an invitation to listen differently to species that exist between the known and the imagined.
Alongside the performance, a new digital collaboration between VP and Jonathan Zawada—commissioned by Cement Fondu and supported by Vital Commons—is shared across the digital channels of Cement Fondu, Vital Commons and Phoenix Central Park. This sound/video work accompanies the ‘Desert’ track on COSMOSIS, combining Zawada’s hyperreal visuals with VP's “sonic imagined landscapes” to create an immersive audio-visual experience of speculative ecologies.
VP is an Australian interdisciplinary artist, sound installation creator, composer, and bioacoustics researcher based in Paris. Her work spans performance, installation, radio, exploring deep listening, speculative ecologies. She transforms field recordings from her work as an archaeologist and biologist into immersive sonic worlds, blending organic sound with electronic synthesis to create otherworldly ecologies.
Tickets are free, available via ballot only.
