Join Stefano Carboni as he explores the rich artistic and cultural history of Central Asia, from the Iron Age to the Islamic dynasties.

Central Asia, including modern-day Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, has been known by many names across centuries and cultures. Discover regions such as Bactria, Khorasan and Sogdiana, which were once centres of ancient civilizations, and key hubs of trade along the Silk Road; as well as cities such as Bukhara and Samarkand which flourished as cultural and commercial centres.

Dr Stefano Carboni is a a specialist in Islamic art and museum strategies, leadership and management. Carboni was the CEO of the Museums Commission in the Ministry of Culture of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh; Director and CEO of the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Perth; and curator and administrator in the Department of Islamic Art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. He is currently a part-time lecturer in Art History and Curatorial Studies at the University of Western Australia.
