Musical improv, the final frontier of improvised comedy – now coming to you from space! Unplanned Melodies, the brave crew of the Starship Improvise, stand ready to explore strange new scenes, to seek out new prompts and harmonization, To Boldly Go where no one has heard the score!
This one hour, wholly improvised musical odyssey will be created based on audience suggestions with other worldly performances by Angie Bradburn, Lauren Donikian, Ru Halwala, Kate Knott, Tom Stevenson and accompanied by Irene Nicola on keys. Audiences can expect to see a mutually supportive, joyful space of harmonies, jokes and intergalactic friendship and a touch of destruction on a universal scale… but just a touch.
Unplanned Melodies perform every year at Sydney Comedy Festival and often at Sydney Fringe, as well as comedy festivals the length of the east coast, from Big Fork in Brisbane to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. They are bringing their unique style of musical comedy to the ITS stage and are excited by the prospect of working in a zero gravity theatre, which they were told “in your dreams” by organisers but they didn’t say no…! So fingers crossed!
“All of it was a hoot. Melodrama, understatement, slick movement, one-liners and far out facial expressions… kept coming in this fine fin-du-monde explosion” – Sydney Arts Guide
