Wednesday 3 June from 6pm to 7:30pm
Join us for the Library Book Club 2026 — celebrating great Australian writing, lively conversation and the joy of reading together.
Hosted in our new Library Shop, for this year’s Library Book Club we have selected some of Australia’s most engaging literary works for six evenings of thoughtful, spirited discussion.
This month, join writer and academic Roanna Gonsalves and editor of Openbook Phillipa McGuinness to discuss Pictures of You: Collected Stories. This collection brings together the best of acclaimed writer Tony Birch’s short fiction from the past two decades. Cherrypicking from across his oeuvre, this anthology showcases his skill at finding the extraordinary in ordinary lives, and the often-unexpected connections and kindnesses between strangers. His work is by turns poignant, sad, profound and funny — and always powerful.
As a Book Club attendee, present your ticket at the Library Shop to receive a 20% discount on each featured book.
Prior to each session, you’ll receive guided reading notes to enrich the conversation and spark ideas for discussion.
