Saturday 23 May from 10am to 3pm
You’re invited to the Sydney Rivers Community Forum
This public assembly will bring together communities from across Sydney’s river, wetland, and waterway catchments, in one of the largest gatherings of river advocates in 2026.
Community groups, NGOs, Traditional Owners, academics and members of the public will be able to speak to their experiences, challenges, and changes they would like to see for Sydney's waterways and wetlands. We'll share stories, join workshops, and form collaborative relationships with other like-minded people who are passionate about changing Sydney's rivers and wetlands for the better.
Together, we'll identify top community priorities and turn these into asks, actions, and strategies, that we’ll present to key decision-makers at a follow-up event, the Sydney Rivers Roundtable.
Lunch will be provided.

How will it work?
Proposals - After registering, you’ll have the option to submit an issue, ask or action. You will also be able to apply to present on your topic at the forum.
Presentations - On the day of the forum, hear presentations highlighting key community priorities regarding Sydney's rivers and wetlands.
Workshops - Submissions will be categorised to form workshop groups. Participants who did not make a submission can self-select their group. Workshop groups will collaborate to produce a single issue, ask, and action. These will then be presented back to the wider forum.
Vote - The forum will then vote to reveal the community's three priority issues, asks, and actions. We’ll present these directly to decision-makers at the Sydney Rivers Roundtable.
