Three day program
Art is a powerful means of exploring issues and making change. This three-day workshop invites 8-12-year-olds to respond to current environmental issues through performance arts.
Students will spend the first day getting to know each other and exploring key environmental issues such as habitat loss, microplastics, landfill capacity, and extreme weather. In a team of six, the students will pick an idea to focus on and will work together to write a performance based on the question, "What would the world say about your issue?"
Each team will have a dedicated educator to support them through the writing and making process. Using all reclaimed materials from the warehouse, students will make the props and costumes as a team.
We will invite all families from the workshop to watch the students' performance at pick-up time on the third day.
This workshop will run for three days: January 20th, January 21st, and January 22nd. Student drop-off will be between 9:15 and 9:30, and pick-up at 3:30. Students are expected to bring their own lunch, snacks, and a water bottle.
