Yasmina Black presents Ruff, a collection of her latest work. Handsewn neck-ruffs, along with a range of hats.

Black, a Sydney based milliner, studied fashion design and theatre costume, and has a Master of Design.  She has a unique approach to design, a quirky, whimsical vision, with a nod to the ridiculous. Black draws inspiration from old-world nostalgia and the natural world, with a particular interest in birds and insects.

Black recently underwent dialysis treatment. During these long hours on the dialysis machine, she occupied her time making neck-ruffs. Hand sewing these labour-intensive pieces allowed her to remain productive, utilise her time, and provided a calming focus.

  • Gallery opening hours 11-6pm.

  • Opening night 6-9pm Friday 27 June
