Ruby Soho presents Happy Birthday Trashbag

Artist Ruby Soho presents Happy Birthday Trashbag- a celebration of the things usually left behind. 

Forget the quiet, white-walled gallery experience. For one weekend, The Shop Gallery Glebe is being transformed into something closer to a colourful, chaotic birthday party than a traditional exhibition. 

Three decades of private, handwritten journals are deconstructed and rebuilt into large-scale artworks, while discarded materials are reborn as bold, playful homewares. It’s nostalgic, unfiltered, and proudly unpolished. 

Influenced by rock and roll, 90’s animation, and the iconic pop artists of the 60’s and 70s, Ruby’s work is bright and expressive. Her works draws on her varied career in creative direction, graphic design, visual merchandising, signwriting, and fashion design to create immersive, high-energy environments that move you. 

The Weekend Lineup 

• Opening Night (Friday 10 April, 5:30pm- late): Expect high energy, bright colours, and zero intimidating gallery vibes. 

• The Plaster Fun House (Sat–Sun): The space shifts into a hands-on installation. Book a session to paint your own unhinged plaster artwork right inside the gallery.

• Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 April: 10:00am – 4:00pm (Plaster Fun House) 

• Monday 13 & Tuesday 14 April: 11:00am – 4:00pm
