The 12th Queer Screen Film Fest (@QueerScreen), will take place from 27 – 31 August at Event Cinemas George St.

The festival opens with the hotly anticipated Plainclothes, a tense romantic thriller about a closeted undercover cop torn between duty and living his truth, starring Russell Tovey (Looking) and Tom Blyth (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes).

Closing the festival is Really Happy Someday, an intimate and empowering drama about a transmasculine musical theatre performer who loses vocal control after starting testosterone, that received the Best Canadian Feature award at the 2025 Inside Out Toronto 2SLGBTQ+ Film Festival.

The 2025 program spans continents and genres, with highlights including Twinless, a dark comedy from the U.S.; Cactus Pears, a tender romance from India; Love Letters, a French drama on connection and vulnerability; and Niñxs, a joyful coming-of-age documentary from Mexico. South Korea features prominently with the thriller Lucky, Apartment and bold comedy Manok. Anticipated titles include Outerlands, starring Asia Kate Dillon and Lea DeLaria, a poignant drama about a non-binary nanny; Denmark’s Sauna, a slow-burning romance based on Mads Ananda Lodahl’s novel; and Australia’s From All Sides, the feature debut of Bina Bhattacharya, exploring the hidden desires of suburban family life.
