Tuesday 21 April from 10:30am to 1:30pm
Join master printmaker Andrew Totman for this hands-on workshop where you’ll learn drypoint printmaking techniques through step-by-step demonstrations.
Drypoint etching is a traditional engraving method in which designs are scratched directly into a copper or zinc surface with a sharp instrument called a burin or scribe. In this workshop, Totman will teach a range of mark-making methods using modern surfaces such as acrylic sheets and milk cartons, without the use of chemicals.
Working with a landscape theme, Totman will guide you through the process of using the printing press to create unique artworks to take home. Reference images will be supplied to aid you. You are also welcome to bring along your own images as inspiration.
This workshop is open to both the printmaking novice and those with some experience; Totman will work with the abilities of each student.
Andrew Totman is an artist and educator working predominantly in printmaking and painting. His works are held in private and public collections in Australia and overseas, and he has held over 70 solo exhibitions.
