Passage Gallery presents Centrifugal Love Garden, a new installation by renowned Australian artist Patricia Piccinini.
Inspired by a visit to a Melbourne medical research laboratory, the exhibition draws on the strange beauty of organoids, laboratory-grown clusters of living cells that exist somewhere between cell and organ. Their swirling motion becomes a conceptual starting point for a series of kinetic works that introduce movement into Piccinini’s practice.
While her sculptures have often been defined by stillness, this installation brings together cascading strands of synthetic hair, suspended forms and hybrid beings that move gently through the gallery space. Intertwined birdlike figures and groups of huddled penguins gesture toward connection, intimacy and collective survival.
Across the installation, Piccinini continues her exploration of the blurred boundaries between nature, technology and artificial life, proposing care and interdependence as forces that shape how life persists in the contemporary world.
Open 24 hours a day through the street-facing windows of Passage Gallery.
Exhibition dates: 6 March – 8 May 2026.
