Two major issues can arise when early career writers sit down to write their novel:

1. They get a few chapters in and lose the plot, or run out of steam and motivation and never get that most important first draft down.

2. They complete the first draft, but without direction and planning at the outset the manuscript now feels too unwieldy or intimidating to continue on with further drafts.

In this workshop, bestselling author JP Pomare will help early career writers address both of these issues. This intensive two-week online course is designed to help take you from the ideation stage to completion of a strong first draft.

Together writers will explore and discuss ways of developing a strong voice, solid foundations of story structure, and character building.

This course will include information, practical exercises and direct feedback from JP. Participants will ultimately learn how to turn an idea into a fully realised story.

Whether starting from scratch or shaping a work-in-progress, this course provides the tools, structure, and creative support to help writers commence or complete their first draft with confidence.

This course, Online: Finishing That Draft: A Novel Writing Course with JP Pomare, will take place online.
