COMA will be presenting a solo exhibition of new works by Swiss born artist Oliver Wagner, titled ‘Rehearsal’.

Wagner transforms painting into a performance of process, working with dust, gesture and chance to reveal the unseen labour, memory and speculation behind the canvas.

Wagner is one of Australia’s most compelling voices in contemporary art, now emerging onto a broader stage. His practice interrogates the unseen performance of painting, treating the studio as a stage where gesture, dust, doubt and trust converge into material form. Painting, for Wagner, is not a fixed object but a choreography of process: scattering dust, brushing supports, wiping and restarting, a continuous interplay of speculation, chance and care.
