Sydney-based director Sudip Limbu is set to light up this year’s Sydney Fringe Festival with a return season of the Pulitzer Prize-winning ’Night, Mother.
Marsha Norman’s devastating two-hander is set in real time, as a mother and daughter circle around an end-of-life decision over the course of one evening.
What makes the play especially powerful is its unflinching realism, with no flashbacks and no breaks in time, instead giving a stark and honest conversation about life and death.
“The play feels more urgent than ever. Conversations about mental health and the pressures placed on women have become central in society. Staging this play in 2025 allows audiences to reflect on issues that remain deeply relevant,” says director Sudip Limbu.
With powerhouse performances from Roslyn Hicks and Julia Burns, this staging is both raw and compassionate, a sharp look at resilience, agency, and the unbearable weight of silence.
