This Remembrance Day, take your lunchbreak with a story that deserves remembering.

Join journalist and debut author Peter Mitchell on Tuesday, 11 November for a powerful lunchtime event exploring the true stories behind his novel, Under the Same Moon - a gripping tale of war, family and the quiet resilience of everyday Australians.

Through unearthed letters and oral histories, Mitchell brings to life the little-known WWII campaign in the Middle East and two brothers who fought in it — along with the women and families holding the line at home. It’s a story of separation, sacrifice and survival, and is rich with humour, heartache and humanity.

About the book

Described as “touching and horrifying, galvanizing and tragic” by Don Watson, and “a vivid portrait of the most desperate chapter in our nation’s history” by Michael Veitch, this talk promises to be as compelling as the book itself.

Available for purchase from Big Sky Publishing and signing by the author.

About Peter Mitchell

Peter Mitchell is a storyteller shaped by a lifetime of unique perspectives. A former partner of a major law firm, he later channeled his strategic skills into leadership, spending years at the helm of a regional non-profit based in Singapore.

His true passion, however, is history. For over two decades, Singapore was his home, a base from which he worked and travelled extensively throughout East Asia. This deep regional immersion, combined with a lifelong fascination ignited by firsthand wartime stories from his father's generation, informs his engaging and authoritative storytelling.

In his debut novel, he has managed to connect it to the places and people he knows intimately.
